Thai Airways International has welcomed its first Airbus A321neo aircraft as part of its plan to strengthen its fleet and expand regional travel. The aircraft arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on 25 December 2025 after flying from the Airbus Delivery Center in Hamburg, Germany. The plane is registered as HS-TOA and has been given the royal name “Bowonrangsi.” A special welcoming ceremony was held to mark this important milestone for the airline.
The event was attended by THAI’s chairman, board members, Chief Executive Officer Chai Eamsiri, and other invited guests. The arrival of this aircraft shows Thai Airways’ commitment to improving its services and preparing for future growth. It is also a key step in the airline’s fleet renewal program, which focuses on modern, efficient, and passenger-friendly aircraft.
This A321neo is the first of 32 aircraft that Thai Airways will receive in the coming years. The first 10 planes will be operated under lease agreements with AerCap, one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies. According to CEO Chai Eamsiri, the new aircraft will help THAI increase flexibility, improve route planning, and support strong growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
The aircraft is powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines, which are more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly. It produces about 20 percent lower carbon emissions per seat and operates more quietly than older aircraft. The A321neo is also certified to fly using up to 50 percent Sustainable Aviation Fuel, helping Thai Airways move toward greener and more responsible operations.
Inside the cabin, the aircraft offers a total of 175 seats, including 16 Royal Silk Class seats with fully flat beds and 159 Economy Class seats designed for comfort. Passengers will enjoy modern features such as large 4K touchscreens with Bluetooth connection, larger overhead storage bins, soft mood lighting, and a welcoming cabin design. The aircraft will begin commercial service on 22 January 2026, starting on the Bangkok–Singapore–Bangkok route.
