Malaysia Aviation Group is preparing for a busy Chinese New Year 2026 by adding more flights to its schedule. During the festive period, the group will operate more than 2,400 flights through Malaysia Airlines and Firefly. This step is taken to meet high travel demand as many people plan to return home to celebrate with their families.
The special festive travel period will run from 11 to 23 February 2026. Malaysia Airlines will operate up to 1,498 flights, including 130 additional services. Firefly will operate up to 962 flights, with 68 extra services added. These extra flights will help reduce travel pressure during peak days.
Most of the added flights will focus on popular domestic routes between Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia. Key destinations include Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Tawau, Sandakan, Miri, Sibu, Bintulu, and Labuan. This strong connectivity allows passengers to reach their hometowns more easily during the holiday season.
To support affordable travel, MAG is working with the Malaysian Government to offer subsidised one-way fares from 13 to 16 February 2026. Malaysia Airlines will offer fares up to RM569, while Firefly fares will go up to RM548 on selected routes. These fares are meant to help families travel at a lower cost during the festive rush.
Passengers will also enjoy a better travel experience with free checked baggage, in-flight refreshments, and flexible flight change options. Firefly will operate flights from KLIA Terminal 1 and Subang Airport, while Malaysia Airlines will offer meals and through-checked baggage. This expansion shows MAG’s strong role in connecting Malaysians during important festive moments.
