Thailand-Cambodia clash: Is it safe to travel to these countries now?
Thailand has strengthened security measures along its border with Cambodia, while travel and tourism activities across the rest of the country continue as normal, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The advisory, issued on December 11, 2025, outlines new restrictions, curfew orders, and temporary transport adjustments in seven eastern and north-eastern provinces.
TAT said domestic and international transport services remain operational nationwide. Major destinations, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Pattaya and Ayutthaya, continue to receive visitors as usual.
Security measures in Seven Border Provinces
The advisory states that security has been heightened in Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Buri Ram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi and Trat. Martial law remains in effect in several districts of Chanthaburi, Trat and Sa Kaeo. A curfew is in place in Ta Phraya, Khok Sung, Aranyaprathet and Khlong Hat districts of Sa Kaeo from 19.00 to 05.00, effective from 10 December until further notice.
Travelers are advised to avoid all restricted zones and checkpoints along the Thailand–Cambodia border, where entry and exit remain suspended. Closures apply only to specific border areas, while other parts of these provinces continue to function as usual.
Transport services adjusted near affected areas
The State Railway of Thailand has limited Ordinary Trains No. 275/276 and No. 279/280 to operate between Bangkok and Aranyaprathet. Services to the Ban Khlong Luek Border Checkpoint are suspended. Passengers can contact the SRT Hotline on 1690.
