Air India Express has launched a new non-stop flight service connecting Varanasi directly to Bangkok, Thailand. This new route is designed to make international travel much easier for people living in eastern Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, it aims to bring more international tourists into India to visit famous spiritual and historical places like Varanasi and Sarnath, which are important parts of the Buddhist travel circuit.
The airline is already a major player in the region, operating more than 70 flights every week from Varanasi to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Sharjah. In fact, Air India Express was the first airline to start international flights from Varanasi back in 2015. Besides Varanasi, the airline also operates in other parts of the state, including Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Hindon, as part of its plan to better connect growing Indian cities to the rest of the world.
According to Aloke Singh, the Managing Director of the airline, this new connection provides a “seamless” way for travelers to reach one of the most popular destinations in the world. He explained that the service helps Indian travelers visit Thailand while also helping visitors from Thailand reach India’s spiritual capital more conveniently.
