As 2026 gets closer, air travel in Thailand is growing fast. In late 2025, airports across the country have seen a big jump in passengers, almost reaching pre-COVID levels. In just one week, around 4.79 lakh passengers traveled through Thai airports. The tourism sector is very positive and busy as the New Year holidays approach.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand has noticed that passenger numbers are increasing every day, especially before the New Year. Travel activity is expected to be at its highest between 27 December 2025 and 4 January 2026, as many tourists visit Thailand to enjoy holidays and celebrations.
Thailand is one of the most popular travel destinations in Southeast Asia. This year, tourism has recovered strongly, and airlines have played a big role in handling the high demand. Countries like China, India, and Malaysia are sending large numbers of travelers to Thailand.
Airlines such as Thai Airways and AirAsia are adding more flights and new routes to manage the rush. Thai Airways is increasing international flights and running special services to major destinations like Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Krabi. At the same time, AirAsia is offering affordable flights, making travel easier for budget travelers.
With more flights and better planning, Thailand is ready to welcome a large number of visitors for one of its busiest New Year seasons in recent years.
